Welcome to MIX
Mentoring for International eXchange Students!
MIX mentoring program at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
In July 2009 MIX was founded by students of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The aim is to provide a mentor for each exchange student who supports him or her throughout the academic year at the Technical University of Munich. Tasks of the mentor are for example:
- To answer questions about studying at TUM
- To explain the system of higher education at TUM
- To show the different campus locations
- To support in finding an accommodation
- To support in official matters
- To introduce him or her to student life in Munich
Apart from questions concerning studies, the aim is to establish a personal contact to the exchange student. Thereby the exchange student is given the opportunity to improve his German and to get to know German culture. At the beginning of the academic year, there is a get-together where mentor and mentee can get to know each other. Furthermore, once a month, a regulars' table takes place at the "Vorhoelzer Forum".
Every enrolled student of Electrical and Computer Engineering at TUM can apply for the mentoring program.
You will get a notification about the allocation at the end of July for the winter semester and at the end of January for the summer semester. In each semester, there is an introductory course for the new mentors. Information on date and time are e-mailed to the mentors.
You should be available for your mentee by the start of October, respectively by the start of April, since this coincides with the arrival of all international exchange students.
In the application process of Erasmus/TUMexchange as well as of department partnerships, the successful mentoring of an exchange student will be considered.
Here you can find the online application.
