Note: Online registration for the CAD Lab takes place in the TUMonline portal. 10 places are available. Binding registration takes place during the introduction lecture. Please note the information sheet on the chair's website. The lab sessions are scheduled for the supervision of the students and attending at each date is mandatory. Nevertheless, personal presence is not required during the full time span from 1pm till 5pm. Note that attending the introductory session is mandatory. Please register here for the module EI7416 "Praktikum Hochfrequenzschaltungen", if you want to attend module EI5088 "High Frequency Circuit Laboratory". This module will be held in German.


- Introduction to ADS or CST - Discussion on design specifications - Develop the circuit concept - Implementation and simulation with ADS or CST - Statistical Yield analysis and optimization - Fabrication and measurements of the designed circuits - Interim and final report - Oral examination


Fundamentals of circuit design and RF engineering: - Transmission line theory - Smith chart - Scattering parameters - Fundamentals of microstrip lines - Knowledge in ADS or CST is a plus

Teaching and learning methods

The course is structured as a workshop (project work) with groups of two or max. three students.
