Cascaded transformer

1.2 MV, 750 kVA; 3 units;
supplied by a 5 kV AC generator,
with varying frequency between 16 2/3 Hz and 60 Hz.
Voltage measurement by a separate voltage divider.

 

High voltage DC test system,

supplied by the cascaded transformer,
maximum voltage 1.2 MV DC, maximum DC current 20 mA. DC
voltage measurement by a high voltage resistor.

 

2.4 MV high voltage impulse generator,

maximum charge voltage 2.4 MV; 12 stages; maximum stored energy 120 kWs. Impulse voltage measurement by capacitive-ohmic voltage dividers.

Test systems located in smaller test laboratories

Impulse current generator

maximum voltage 160 kV; maximum stored energy 80 kWs;
32 capacitors each 2.5 µF, 40 kV ; divided into 4 groups, each group 20 µF,
possibility of a parallel (80 µF), series (5 µF) and series-parallel (20 µF) connection of these groups;
modification of current waveshape by linear high energy resistors.
Current measurement by coaxial shunts.

 

1 MV high voltage impulse generator

maximum charge voltage 1 MV;
5 stages; maximum stored energy 12.5 kWs.


400 kV AC test system

100 kVA, frequency 50 Hz


500 kV DC test system

400 kV (60 mA);

Values given above are rated values of the voltage and current test generators, respectively. The values which will be realized in actual tests may be lower depending on limitations given by the test set up.
