Dominik Van Opdenbosch studied Electrical Engineering at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU, Germany), where he received the degree "Bachelor of Science" in 2010. Afterwards, he graduated with the degree "Master of Science with Honors" in the master degree programme "Systems of Information and Multimedia Technology" in 2012, which is a joint collaboration between the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität and the Technische Universität München (TUM, Germany) as part of the Elite Network Bavaria.
Dominik has joined the research staff in April 2013 working in the NAVVIS II project on vision-based navigation technologies. In April 2014, he received a Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship. His main research interests is content-based image retrieval in mobile applications. From 2015-2018, he was part of the VIPE project to work on vision-based mapping and localization technologies for mars exploration. He is also part of the CDHK "flying faculty" giving lectures on image- and video compression at Tongji University, Shanghai.
