Biography

Alexandra Zayets received her Master of Science degree in Communications Engineering at the Technical University of Munich in 2015. She  studied Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (B.Sc.) at Jacobs University Bremen.

In February 2016 she joined LMT as a PhD candidate working on indoor localization.

Research Interests

Users need to be guided through large public buildings, robots need to navigate through factories. In order for this to be possible the location of both the human user and the robot need to be known. The most common localization solution used outdoors, GPS, is not available inside buildings. Therefore, a number of algorithms that use electromagnetic receivers and transmitters to calculate the location of a user device are becoming more prominant.

Indoor enviroments where localization is required often contain moving obstacles, such as people. In addition an indoor environment may change over time if the furniture inside is rearranged. The goal of my work is to develop a robust localization systems that can be used in dynamic and changing environments.
