Objectives

- Practical applications of communications engineering, - Experience with measurement equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, spectrum and signal analyzers), - Experience with Matlab.

Description

Introduction to digital communication systems based on computer simulations: Signal properties, Signal processing (filtering, sampling, quantization), Principles of source and channel coding, Channel properties, Optimal receiver filters, Baseband transmission, Intersymbol interference, Nyquist criteria, Digital modulation schemes, Time/frequency/space-diversity schemes.

Examination

Exam at the end of each experiment.
