General Information

The following list provides an overview of the steps to take during the application for the MSNE Program. Links lead to the respective sections where you can find more information.

  1. Check if you have to provide a preliminary record examination by uni-assist.
  2. Create an applicant account in TUMonline.
  3. Apply online once the application for MSNE is open. See also Dates and Deadlines.
  4. After completing your online application, download, print, sign, and upload the application form.
  5. Collect at least all documents required for assessment in the correct form; use our forms for the statement of purpose and the letters of reference available for download.
  6. Upload at least the documents required for assessment in TUM-Online.
  7. Check the status of your application in TUMonline from time to time in order to find out whether your documents have been accepted by the admissions office. Check your Emails and your Spam Folders! Resend missing or incorrect documents, ask the Student Service Center.
  8. After your documents have been approved for assessment, wait until you receive the result of the first stage of the assessment process.
  9. Prepare yourself for the interview if you have passed the first stage of the assessment process.
  10. If you have been admitted
    • Accept your spot in TUM Online
    • send all missing documents for enrollment
    • apply for a visa (if necessary),
    • start looking for accommodation in Munich,
    • prepare yourself for the courses.
  11. After arrival in Munich
    • get a student health insurance unless you already have one that is accepted by TUM,
    • pick up your student card and other important documents at the TUM Service Desk,
    • apply for a student residence permit (obligatory for all students without German citizenship!),
    • register your address in Munich.
