Lernziele

Upon successful completion of the module, students are able to understand the concepts and structures of transistor level integrated analog and mixed-signal circuit design. They are able to size devices and set operating points of basic circuit functions like operational amplifiers, clocks, references, power supplies and A/D or D/A converters. Students are able to describe basic interaction between circuit specifications and the sizing and structure of the circuit.

Beschreibung

• Specifics of semiconductor process technology and devices for the building of integrated circuits • Transistor level circuits and the implementation in CMOS technology: amplifier, current and voltage reference, power supply as well as clock generation, regulation and distribution, A / D and D / A converters • Non-idealities and their compensation: operating point, frequency response (with feedback), how to optimize for disturbances (parasitic, power supply and common mode rejection, ...) and error sources (variability, noise, ...)

Basic lectures in circuit and system theory, electronic circuit design, solid-state and seminconductor device physics

Lehr- und Lernmethoden

The lecture (Audimax) and exercise (Tentomax) will be held in presence. Both events are also streamed on Zoom and will be recorded for Moodle.

Studien-, Prüfungsleistung

In a written final exam (60 min), students will demonstrate their insight into the basic concepts and structures of transistor level integrated circuits, as well as their ability to apply them, for example through setting operating points, sizing and their impact to typical specifications of electronic circuit design and analysis.
