Description of Achievement and Assessment Methods
By the means of a writen exam (60 min) without aids students proof by solving calculations and answering questions that they understood he statistical techniques to deal with the insulating capacity, the mechanisms of electrical conductivity and polarisation of insulating materials, the fundamentals of test techniques for insulating materials as well as the basic properties of insulating materials including their aging performance and are able to calculate a high voltage insulation for a given scenario.
Prerequisites (recommended)
The following modules should have been passed successfully:
High voltage technology
Intended Learning Outcomes
At the end of the module students are able to understand the statistical techniques to deal with the insulating capacity, the mechanisms of electrical conductivity and polarisation of insulating materials, the fundamentals of test techniques for insulating materials as well as the basic properties of insulating materials including their aging performance. Further, they are able to apply this understanding to the design and the expected properties of high voltage insulations (e.g. insulators and cables).
Content
Insulation capacity and statistical techniques, electrical conductivity and dielectric properties of insulating materials, testing of insulating materials, anorganic and organic insulating materials, high voltage insulators, energy cables, long-term performance of insulations (ageing)
Teaching and Learning Methods
In addition to the students method of learning their knowledge shall be deepened by solving exercises.
The applied method of teaching is to deliver lectures and to assist in solving exercises.
Media
The following media will be applied:
- Presentations
